Elbetra had never been prone to visions when alive, but, in the Sargasso Aerul had created, he couldn’t seem to shake the smell of blood and smoke, or the echo of cries down the halls, or the sight of half-real figures, ghosts to a ghost. Aerul was evasive when he mentioned it, which made Elbetra certain that he saw it too, and suspicious that he was the one setting the visions into the possible.
And what use are visions of the future to a ghost bound to the past? Elbetra longed for sleep, not to dream, but to stop dreaming.
