[February 19] [Fushigiboshi no Futago Hime] Tears of Yesterday
Title: Tears of Yesterday
Day/Theme: February 19 - 19. the fairy's wish/demise
Series: Fushigiboshi no Futago Hime
Character/Pairing: Altessa
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Altessa and all related titles are copyrighted to BIRTHDAY, Hal Film Maker, TV Tokyo, etc.
Altessa asked Bright one day if fairies ever existed. Bright only grinned in his usual, languid manner, shrugging with a sly,"Maybe they do." It was times like this that Altessa didn't like asking Bright about things she didn't know, since he'd only come out with a yes and no answer, or even no answer at all. It was almost as if he was trying to balance both joy and disappointment all on one shoulder.
She sat in the garden, watering her flowers as usual, until she saw a dim light coming from one of the buds of her roses. Altessa contemplated on calling Bright, but then again, it could be the glitter of a misplaced jewel. As she wondered what the strange phenomenon was, she pushed aside the petals of the flower and found a tiny fragile body resting there. The light emanating from the being was dying as the figure's pallid face became contorted in a series of gasps.
"Are you all right?" Altessa frantically asked, taking the poor thing into her tiny hands. "Hold on! I-I'll get something!"
What could she get to save the creature? She didn't have any special abilities, and she had no idea what to give it. Altessa tried her best not to shake the petite figure around so much as she dashed back and forth around the garden, hoping for a miracle to save the creature. She tried the herb garden, but which one would create the best remedy? Ginseng? Juniper berries?
Time was running out. Altessa pleaded to someone--anyone--to grant her wish of keeping this dying essence alive. She dashed inside, still holding the fading aura in her hands, and rummaged around places, looking for some medicine or even herbal tea.
The light finally thinned out, and Altessa realized she was holding a dead body. Altessa screamed and dropped the once-living figure as if it were some vile substance.
That was the first time something ever died in her hands.
The empty eyes stared back at her, and the lips draped open. Altessa took a step back, still pitching her voice to the point where windows could be shattered.
The world turned black and swallowed her vision. She didn't know what happened next.
Altessa found herself in bed when she woke up into the fresh sunlight, wondering if the event really happened or not. Bright had said that the servants found her unconscious somewhere in the castle, but did not mention where. Altessa walked out to the garden in solemn steps, staring at the broad sky stretching over the horizon. As the sun beamed at her, she could have sworn she heard a light voice thanking her for trying to save her...
