Jackie Tyler does not embroider. She sews buttons back on; she can put up a hem, mend a tear, darn. Useful things. These days she can afford to buy new, but there was a time when she and Pete skirted poverty and whatever could last was made to last.
These days she gets on with her life just as Rose would want her to do. Just as Pete would have wanted her to do.
She is a raw silk thread in Rose's life, and the Doctor is polished silk the colour of foreign stars, woven across and round into tangles.
