[Feb. 6] [Suikoden] Moon Navigation

Title: Moon Navigation
Day/Theme: "the lady that found the moon"
Series: Suikoden
Character/Pairing: Sasarai, Nash, and OCs Safia and Fritz
Rating: G Nothing to watch out for, except maybe my corny sense of humor...
Disclaimer: Konami owns Sasarai and Nash...but for everything else- that's mine!

Safia de la Croix liked to say that she sailed by the moon. She was known for having an awkward sense of humor that didn't always make sense to others. This was one of the jokes no passenger aboard her vessel seemed to understand. The blond-braided captain would squint her blue eyes, searching amidst the gray night clouds for the moon, be it full or crescent. She would smile, and raise one small hand to point at it, saying, "Well, there we are. I am sailing by the moon, you know."

One of the few who laughed readily at this was Bishop Sasarai, headed south to the Island Nations, to meet with several associates of his. "I think we need a new navigator!" the little brunette chuckled, "Someone hand me a star chart!"

Nash leaned an arm on the railing and sighed, "Wish my wife could be here to see this..." He gazed up at the evening sky, dull purple and midnight blue with misty clouds strewn thinly out to the horizon. They grew quiet and Sasarai listened to the slow, repetitive sound of waves lapping against the wooden vessel. The crew of the Black Damask moved about as usual, carrying on their tasks, coiling ropes, peering through telescopes, and trimming sails.

"Where's Fritz?" the bishop eventually inquired, glancing about in the ever darkening night.

"He went below deck a while ago, because the sea air was having some kind of effect on his wig," Nash answered, "Maybe he's really just seasick."

Safia did not turn away from the helm, but she did add her own thoughts on the matter, "I don't think Lord Fritz would mind it we saw him sick...but if we saw him wigless, he would likely make quite a stir."

"He doesn't like people to know about it," Sasarai remarked, "His hair, I mean..."

"Ah, yeah?" a shaky voice piped up, "I'm back. Anyone care for a drink?"

Sasarai and his subordinate turned to see blue-eyed Fritz come up the steps with a bottle of soda water under one arm and a white kerchief tied over his head. The wind caught the edge of the kerchief and raised it up in the back, letting the dim light shine onto his bald head.

"There's that moon again," noted Safia.
