It started behind them as a whispering, but as Midou Ban led Amano Ginji through the maze of corridors and paths, it became a chattering, then a snarling, and then a howling that echoed between the high buildings and through the dilapidated streets of Mugenjou.
The hunt was up.
They were lucky to get out alive.
Later, Ginji would not discuss it, and acted as if it had never happened. Ban would only shrug and draw on his cigarette.
He commented to Paul, "Wolf packs are fine as long as you're part of the pack. If you're not -- well."
