31_days January 10/Private investigations, also for au100 Prompt #084. Found (8/50). (Table)

Character/Pairing: Buffy, Angel
Rating: 10+
Disclaimer: I do not own anything from the series; BtVS is owned by Joss Whedon, etc.
She had been running for so long, that she had deluded herself into believing that she was free; that no was looking for her anymore. She had become careless, and that had cost her.
Still, she couldn’t believe that he had hired a private investigator just to search for her. 10 years of running and one mistake had allowed Angel to find her.
Why hadn’t he just given up hope? It should have been easy for him to believe that she had died, since it wasn’t like her death would have called another Slayer. Hadn’t he realized that she might not want to be found?
Yet, in her heart she knew that he would never have given up hope. He wouldn’t have stopped searching until he found out for sure whether she was dead or alive.
While it would have been nice if no one had ever found her, she no longer wished to run. So now she would have to deal with him, and hope that he would leave when they were done… or at the very least, not tell anyone else where she was.
