For so long the only thing that had mattered was her looks; no one had ever really cared about how smart she might be.
Yet, what good were looks to her now? Her parents were dead, because the only thing she had cared about was shopping and looking pretty.
The man had warned her about the things that went bump in the night, but she hadn’t listened. Even after he showed her proof, she had refused to believe, to change. She truly hadn’t cared about vampires, demons, or anything else that might crawl around in the dark.
Everything was different now… she no longer cared about her looks, or really much of anything. She had no friends, and often moved around, never staying more than a year in one spot. The only thing that mattered to her now was killing as many vampires and demons as she could; but no matter how many she killed it was never enough to ease the guilt of her parents deaths.
