[January 4] [Harry Potter] Enough

Title: Enough
Day/Theme: [livejournal.com profile] 31_days January 4/No good advice, also for [livejournal.com profile] au100 Prompt #034. Not Enough (8/50). (Table)
Series: HP
Character/Pairing: Harry
Rating: 10+
Disclaimer: I do not own anything from the series; Harry Potter is owned by JK Rowling, etc.

It was never enough... He could never be perfect enough for them, for the Wizarding World. They wanted him to solve all their troubles, to make the bad things go away; but they never wanted to tell him what the problem was in the first place, or to give him advice on how he might be able to fix it. Instead they only fed him bits and pieces of information, then expected him to do the things they themselves would not do.

They wanted him to be ‘innocent’. He wasn’t suppose to date, not that he would want to put some poor girl in that position; the wizarding world was fickle and Voldemort deadly, so any girl he dated had the chance of either being humiliated by the papers or killed by Voldemort. Yet, at the same time they seemed to want him to eventually get married and have tons of kids.

They wanted him to get rid of Voldemort, but at the same time they didn’t want him to kill anyone. Harry wondered how exactly they expected him to deal with the Dark Lord; did they expect him to invite the Dark Lord to tea and ask him politely to stop killing people? None of it made any sense to him; no matter what he did, it was never enough for them.

The only thing Harry knew for certain was that if managed to survive the war with Voldemort, he wasn’t going to stay in the Wizarding World a second more than he had to… If he was lucky he would be able to leave immediately after killing Voldemort without anyone seeing him. That way they could pronounce him dead and have their martyr; and he would never have to deal with that world again.
