[January 1] [Buffy The Vampire Slayer] One Day

31_days January 1/Don't go (girls & boys), also for au100 Prompt #089. She (4/50). (Table)

Just one more night is all she asks for, and yet she knows that if he stayed that one more night it wouldn't be enough. She wants him to stay and never leave, but instead she knows he will soon disappear from her town, her life; just like he always has.
One day she imagines that he will stay, that he will take her in his arms and never let go. He is the reason she continues to fight, and while Buffy knows that she shouldn't get her hopes up, she can't help it.
Perhaps once Willow finds a way to permanently bind his soul it will be safe for him to return. However until that happens, Angel will have the time that Buffy knows he needs to come to terms with himself; and although she doesn't want to admit it, she probably needs that time too.
