Happy New Year, everyone. :)

When Inuyasha and his party had arrived in town, Miroku had been suffering greatly and noticeably from a 'lack of female company,' as he had so delicately termed his late lack of copulation.

So he had sought out a brothel, and had impatiently paid before inspecting the females residing therein; he had been reluctant to sustain his pleasure any longer--besides, the girls were sure to be lovely, considering the fee.

He was ushered to a sparsely furnished room, with only a tatami mat on the floor; the room was satisfactory--it was cleaner than most--but the girl was not. She was plump, amorphous, with a rather large forehead, and a dull face to match. She was also rather strong.

"Ah, please! I want to leave!" he cried, struggling against the courtesan's grip.

"But okyaku-sama," whined Mieko, clinging to his sleeve, "you already paid for my services! Please stay!"

He sighed, and ceased struggling; another approach would have to be taken. Yes, he may have made his bed, but he was not going to lie in it. He had to get out of here--quickly.

"Er, well, um...I have to, I have to...go the bathroom," he tried lamely.

Mieko gave him a dubious look. "Oh, please, I am smarter than that, okyaku-sama. I've had reluctant customers before." She grabbed at him, and started trying to undo his robe.

He tried to pull away, but she was surprisingly forceful. Noooo!

Suddenly, the door slid open. In the doorway stood the proprietor of the brothel, an old, shriveled woman, looking incredibly irritated.

"You, monk!" she barked, pointing an accusing finger at Miroku.

"Yes?" he said, taking this opportunity to extricate himself from Mieko's vice grip.

"The money you gave me is fake! I won't stand for this sort of trickery! Pay me in real funds, or get out of here at once! You can't spend time with my lovely girls unless you pay the fee!"

"I'm afraid I'm rather destitute. I'll be leaving." In his impatience, he hadn't been too careful in ensuring the infallibility of his con; it was the first time he had ever been glad to have been caught.

"Don't let the door hit you on the way out!" the old woman snarled over Mieko's plaintive pleadings to stay.

"Don't worry about that," he muttered, shuffling past the old woman hurriedly, musing ruefully that, indeed, patience was a virtue.
