Every so often, a bond between two people is so strong, they cannot imagine being with anyone else. But this sort of bond comes with a terrible weakness.
“WHO ARE YOU KIDDING?” she’d exploded at her father, who’d tried to console her for the hundredth time. “You’re always pretending everything’s fine, but it’s NOT!”
She’d refused her mother’s comfort. The last thing she needed to hear was “I told you so.”
Libby was staring into the barrel of her father’s gun. After saying a prayer, she stopped staring and pulled the trigger.
Sometimes love is too strong to withstand life.
