[Dec 29th] [Gundam Wing] What Hope This Heart Holds
Title: What Hope This Heart Holds
Day/Theme: December 29: Here they sang about tomorrow
Series: Gundam Wing
Character/Pairing: 1xR
Rating: G
Disclaimer: I don’t own Gundam Wing.
Notes: Written as part of my secret santa gift to cute__nessie. Set post anime EW, since it was left a lot more open.
The December sun cast soft shadows onto a snowy landscape. Relena felt the cold breeze whisper through her coat, finger through her hair. Blue eyes glanced toward the pastel morning sky, but took no notice of the day. As always, her mind had drifted elsewhere, to thoughts of some thing, some one else.
Heero was never gone from her memories long enough to warrant missing him, but his presence by her side was rare. A breath of a moment was all she had before he was off again, to places she could only dare but dream. He was a fading phantasm in her world of work and politics.
Memories kept her warm, distance made her cold.
A smile touched her lips, one of the few real ones that graced her face anymore. Even in the depths of winter she could feel the heat from his fingers dusting over her skin. Hope kindled a fire on her cheeks, perhaps he would return again.
The war was over, but it meant nothing to a man who only knew it. There was always something to be done to keep it from breaking out once more. He made it his personal mission to ensure that the peace they had created together was never threatened.
The promise of a peaceful tomorrow. The echo of the raging wars. Both would always sing in her soul for they represented everything he was and everything she ever knew.
