Title: Love is Human
Day/Prompt: 12-21-22/as distant as clouds in the sky

Summary: It's not like living without him breaks her heart. Well, OK, it is kind of like that sometimes.
Se-ri thought love was ridiculous for such a long time. Now she knows it isn't ridiculous but it is painful as hell.
Jeong-hyeok is gone. His recorded messages are lovely but unless North and South Korea suddenly become one country she isn't sure how she will ever see him again. Reunification seems unlikely but she keeps up with the news just in case.
And she does what he told her - eats real food, goes out with people, tries to be happy. And actually it works - she smiles and laughs and she isn't faking it. But it burns, the knowledge that she met someone who is her destiny and destiny is also painful as hell.
Se-ri remembers his face, his lips, the way he looked when he was in pain. She remembers him knocking on the damn car trunk, and telling him to just stop doing things so this wouldn't happen. But of course it happened, and here she is, a bright successful woman crying over car trunks and determined not to give up on a man who lives a short plane flight away, in the one place she can't fly to, can't even call on the phone.
If only he came back and she could be with him, even for a short time... what would she do? Besides the obvious - she's only human. She would listen to him play the piano again. Of course she doesn't have a piano, but she would buy one. She would hold him and stroke his hair, even if he has the terrible bowl cut again. Seriously, she would do anything for the chance. It makes her want to cry and all she can think is that he wouldn't want her to.
But sometimes at night she settles in to listen to the music he used to love, and tends the stupid plant, she has hope. It took a natural disaster to bring her to him once. Maybe it won't take so much this time.
