If he were a poet, he would write her sonnets; witty and beautiful ones that would make her eyes soften in that way that was only for him.
If he were a sculptor, he would carve her perfect form and preserve every last curve, from the apple in her cheek to the arch of her foot.
But he lives in no renaissance.
Outside is Tokyo, 2025 AD and he is yakuza. So he gives her the only gift he can offer.
“Tsukasa, starting tomorrow you’re going to learn sharp-shooting from Asago.”
“But I don’t need it! Don’t bother Asago.” She frowns at him, and he wonders again, how an artist would describe that expression. He wants to hold on to every moment, every breath, but he will have to settle for keeping her by his side for as long as possible.
“Consider it a gift, then. Not something you need, but something I want you to have.
