[Dec 13] [GundamW (with a fanfic twist) ] Things That Never Come
Title: Things That Never Come
Date/Theme: Dec. 13 / Of unkissed kisses
Series: GundamW: Mirror Evolution
Characters: (OCs) Alexa Reaves, Jehan D'Coeurvrai
Rating: G
"Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do."
"And do you take take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do."
"You may now kiss the bride."
Tiny thrills ran through her all over as his hands reached to lift the veil that partly obscured her view of him. As it rose, she could see a somewhat goofy smile on his face and she grinned in turn. Then she flung her arms around his neck and they kissed, some good-natured laughter arising from some of their friends. She had been waiting for that kiss since the day they had admitted feelings for one another and she had dared to hope she could begin to think of living a normal life once more. She longed for that kiss as she longed to see him again, embrace him again, say she loved him again...
Jehan gazed across the lounge table at Alexa, wondering what was going through her mind just then. He had plunked his lunch tray down a few feet away from her. They had greeted each other and chatted briefly, since they were both more of a mind for food and mutually agreed on that. She was also reading a book so he left her to it. But for the last five minutes, although the book lay open before her and her face was angled toward it, she had not turned a page nor were her eyes moving to the words. He assumed she had drifted off into some thought yet he couldn't help thinking her expression was taking on a haunted look.
He thought to say something light to break the trance, something he often felt the urge to do...Or even just say something to her that was less than casual. He was very interested in getting to know her better, but he was constantly discouraged from doing so by those he tried to ask about her. Everyone told him to find someone else, to save his charms for someone less average-looking, someone who might spend more than ten minutes buried in work. They asked where he would even take her on a date when she seemed to be at Preventers HQ 24/7. Then there were those intuitive sort of female coworkers who advised him against it because it was obvious she already had someone on her mind.
From what Jehan could tell it was someone who upset her. He imagined scenes where he took her aside and asked what this fellow had done that made her so sad. And then he imagined kissing her on the cheek in hopes of distracting her from those sad thoughts and to make her see there was a possibility of moving on with someone else. But it was only a daydream. As much as he wanted to help her -- in his own way -- it seemed she couldn't be sidetracked. He only hoped she didn't spend the rest of her days that way.
An announcement came over the PA speakers. Jehan looked off toward the front of the room and waved to someone from his former OZ unit. The sound of a page being turned came at last.
