[Dec 12] [Star Wars] a bad feeling
Title: a bad feeling
Theme: A single drop of lantern oil
Series: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Anakin
Rating: G
"How primitive," Obi-Wan noted. "Our lightsabers could give us more light than this."
"I can't believe that I'm the one saying this, but, we're going for a low profile, remember?" Anakin whispered back. "Our lightsabers would give us away immediately."
“I’m aware of that, and I’m not suggesting we use lightsabers. It’s just...” Obi-Wan turned the oil lantern to glance at it from another angle, as though he wasn’t convinced that that was all there was all to it. “It hardly seems reliable.”
“It’s reliable, provided you know how to use it.”
“Hmph.”
“We used those back on Tatooine. When we had to go out at night.”
“Tatooine wasn’t on the cutting edge of technology.”
“Again, I can’t believe I’m the one saying this, but the latest and brightest isn’t always the best, Master. Can you get over it already?”
“I have a bad feeling about this.” And with good reason. Five minutes later the lamp sputtered out its last, leaving them in the dark. “Is this supposed to happen?”
“Yeah… when it runs out of oil.”
“Brilliant. Did you bring anymore?”
“Did YOU?”
“This wasn’t my idea. Did you?” Silence. “Anakin.”
“I didn’t think we’d be wandering around this long! If you hadn’t insisted on--”
“Yes, lay the blame on me, that’s very mature of you.” Anakin muttered something that might be an apology.
“Well. This way we’ll certainly maintain that low profile, won’t we.”
