Kanau looked at Mikuni with undisguised horror. The expression was far from new, Mikuni inspired it, on average, about sixteen times a day.

 

“I refuse,” he said simply.

 

Mikuni smiled serenely. “Ah, well. I’ll just – ”

 

That was how Kanau found himself in the French maid’s outfit pouring tea for Mitsuo while the boy glanced from him to Mikuni, clearly sensing the evil intent in the air.

 

“Kanau?” Mikuni’s voice was full of sweetness and light. Kanau gritted his teeth and chanted:

 

“I’m a little teapot, short and stout.”

 

Then he dumped the contents of the pot onto Mikuni’s head.
