The final emperor blinked and then nodded, lifting his hand from the chair he'd nearly taken and making his way to where Leon sat with his sons. Victor gave him a warm smile while Gerard's expression was just a bit unsure until Hector's hand on his shoulder brushed it into something closer to appreciation.
"You've been sitting alone," Victor commented. "You don't have to."
He knew, but the words stuck. His memories were often a jumble and anything truly his sometimes seemed beyond his grasp. But this was suddenly familiar and welcome and--
"Thank you."
