[Dec 11] [Star Wars] Floating on water
Title: Floating on water
Theme: The sound of droned sea song
Series: Star Wars
Pairing: Anakin/Padmé
Rating: G
As a little girl, Padmé had been unable to resist dipping her fingers into the water as the boat coursed through to their destination. From the mainland to the island was a short distance, no more than a couple dozen meters, but the depth was deeper than either of their heights, and at any rate wading through water was undignified for a Senator, even one in hiding. So the boat it was, and she was taken back instantly to her childhood, back to when she had the time to go on vacations. She wondered if the oarsman wasn't the same one as the one as all those years back, on that trip when her sister had jumped out of the boat, to her parent's dismay and Padmé's envious delight. He had the same moustache, with sharp short thick black hairs, and was missing just as many teeth.
"Where are you?" Anakin asked, bringing her out of her time-travel reverie.
"In this boat sitting next to you, silly."
"But you looked so far away, like you'd gone to the other end of the Galaxy."
Padmé laughed, brushed away some tendrils of hair from the front of her face. "I've been here all along, but further than ever."
"You can't go away," he was almost anxious, but not quite. The sun was too delicious, the water too sparkly, for worries. "You have to stay within my eyesight, it's my duty."
"All right, I'll bring you with me. Just now I was thinking of the first time I took this trip."
"Yeah?"
"The oarsman sang a song, and I'm trying to remember the words... how did it go? In the Placentia Bay there... there..."
"There sat on the shore," supplied the man rowing the boat, "A young girl who mourned for her love who's no more."
"That's it!" Padmé exclaimed. 'The pride of his manhood is the prize of the sea, and the seagulls still follow on freedom.' She stopped, suddenly. "I didn't realize it was so sad, when I was younger. The poor girl, to have been left alone."
"I wouldn't," Anakin said, "I wouldn't have left her alone. I wouldn't have let her out of my sight."
"That's a tall promise to make, Annie."
"I'm a man of my word." His gaze was too intense, and spite in of herself, Padmé felt herself become warmer. She turned away, looking into the waters as she plunged her hand into it.
