Day/Prompt: 22-Aug-2021
Fandom: Ayatsuri Sakon
Character/Pairing: Sakon, Ukon, Zenkichi
Rating/Warning(s): Gen,
Any doubts Zenkichi might have had about himself being crazy were affirmed the moment he walked into the bar— a shabby thing, tucked under a side street's alleyway. It stunk like burnt hair, cognac, and cheap cigarettes: a stench that never stopped being tempting over the years.
His finger itched for a box that wasn't there, and Zenkichi's eye twitched.
Forcing himself to ignore the sensation, Zenkichi grit his teeth and focused on the man in front of him. There was word down the grapevine of a man who knew all and shared with none. Well, he shared, but everything had a price.
Meeting him was the first.
"You might be," The man gestured to Sakon, grinning wolfishly, "yourself. But you're not invincible."
Ukon glared at the man, but Sakon stood cool, impassively. He hadn't been fazed by the taunts and talk in years. Murder, yes, but these taunts?
Sakon merely stared.
Zenkichi frowned incredulously, staring between the two men, but staying silent. After all, this was the make it or break it; if they were deemed 'not enough', the case would be broken.
Ukon frowned.
"Your point?" Ukon scoffed, lifting his chin.
"My point," The man trailed off, "is nothing."
His shoulder trembled as he spoke. He chuckled behind a closed fist, smiling in a way that not even Sakon could understand— all he knew was the bare minimum: that the smile held secrets.
He turned around, throwing a hand to beckon them.
Sakon's foot fell first.
"Just be careful."
