"Is something wrong, Keiichi?" asked Belldandy.

"The Yggdrasil system defines reality, right?" Keiichi asked.

"That's right," Belldandy said.

"And Urd is the system operator?..."

"Yes."

"Then... the entire Universe depends on... that." Keiichi pointed at a drunken Urd, stumbling towards her room. As if on cue, Urd walked into the door-jamb, whacking her head against it with a dull thud.

Belldandy giggled. "Don't worry. I've never questioned my faith in Urd's true abilities."

Belldandy lay in her futon, wide awake, occasionally trembling, considering all the implications of what Keiichi had said.

Sleep did not come easily for Belldandy, that night.
