Yoruichi went walking out of Soul Society on little cat feet, with a thirst for milk and an urge to purr. Shape was impermanent and unimportant, but she was surprised to find how much she liked this new body, with its bunching muscles and sleek ripples of fur. And she was still the God of Flash.
The rest she left behind like discarded clothing; her robes, her friends, her lovers, her students, her responsibilities, all fallen without a moment's look back.
Secrets are like births, you see; once you know a truth, it opens a door that you can't ignore, and sometimes that door is so vital, so necessary, that it must be passed through. The facts lay themselves out in steps that you must follow, the realities reshape themselves in the light of this new knowledge, the obligations which you have lived by suddenly become like feathers against the weight of newly realised duty.
Yoruichi left her life behind her together with her death, and when she had to pick them up again, it was just another day, just another morning; the doors opened, and she put on human flesh again, and took up her speed and everything that went with it, and never looked back.
