If there was anything to heed as warning, it was the thinly-veiled diplomacy, the pull of crookedness on his normally jubilant, softly lit lips and the subtle dig of his brow Zenkichi was sure that nobody else saw. But then, if they didn't see that, they couldn't have felt his anger, and that meant Zenkichi knew Sakon all too well, his cues and quirks, or that he was staring just hard enough to notice everything.
In any case, his eyes were always on those of his friend, no matter where he turned, like a bird in flight, always watching out for danger, always watching out for the next threat, except his staring had less to do with caution and more to do with a thing he assumed was sickly saccharine lovesickness.
