Lately, Kaze was spending more time with him than with Corrin, though Xander wasn't about to complain. Kaze's presence meant a different sort of information than what Laslow and Peri brought for him.

And Xander valued Kaze's insight, as both an outsider and one trained to observe even the tiniest of things.

"I know both Peri and Laslow have mentioned the changes in fashion," Kaze said as he knelt on a rug near the hearth of Xander's study. It didn't take long for Xander's cat to make her way over to him. Kaze didn't comment, but he did lazily reach to scratch between her ears.

"With the increase in trade, and Lord Leo and Lady Elise's efforts in getting food to all areas, the general mood is much brighter. There's more music, more art... The street markets are flourishing," Kaze continued. Xander could hear purring competing with Kaze's soft voice and for a quick moment, he wondered if Kaze might purr like that if he buried his fingers in Kaze's soft hair.

"Laslow has noted that quite a few nobles and some merchants aren't thrilled with this," Xander said. He frowned. The tensions had been building; Xander had obviously had a hand in everything Kaze had mentioned. Nohr was more than its nobles.

"It is the nature of change," Kaze replied. "And the change will continue, it is far too late for anyone to dam this river."

Xander nodded. He had already made steps towards the Nohr he'd imagined and he'd allowed his siblings to do even more to help the country they all loved. Together, they'd do all they could for Nohr--

Kaze was watching him, Xander realized.

"What else is changing?" Xander questioned as he pushed back his chair. There was room beside Kaze...
