[May 3] Fire Emblem: Fates - Coming For You
Title: Coming For You
Day/Prompt: May 03/the more you hurt the less you feel the pain
Fandom: Fire Emblem: Fates
Character/Pairing: Niles, Sakura, implied-Niles/Sakura
Rating/Warning(s): AA
Word Count: ~535
Summary: It's a small ache, but best to get it tended to.
--
The gash on his arm had started to sting, which was the main reason that Niles had bothered to make his way to the infirmary. He knew better than to let it fester and get a lecture from Lord Leo. Well, a scathing lecture might be interesting, but not over something so dully simple.
But if he'd known that the lovely Princess Sakura was on duty, he would have meandered in with a bit more speed. Niles didn't miss the way her eyes lit up when she saw him, or the blush, or the tiny squeak when she saw the blood on his sleeve.
"What happened?" she asked quietly, beckoning him closer. Niles raised an eyebrow at the distinct lack of a stutter. But Sakura did tend to lose her nervousness when it came to things she was truly good at, like healing. That was a boon for the entire army.
"Up to no good," Niles replied as he rolled up his sleeve to show her. Breaking up a back-alley duel while in the nearest town and hadn't even realized the blood was his own.
"Sit," Sakura commanded, the firmness evident despite how quiet she made it.
Niles circled and sat on the first of a row of thankfully-empty cots. Sakura was quick with water and a cloth, making the wound sting more as she washed it.
"You-- You should have come to me sooner," she managed after a moment, not looking up from her work. But her hands stayed on him, warm in comparison to the cold water.
Niles chuckled. "To you alone?"
"Ah..."
"Next time I'll come just to you," Niles replied, biting back his words into something less-suggestive than his usual. Though her hands, on him, cleaning away dried blood and making the wound feel raw... It was certainly worth remembering.
"Okay."
She still hadn't looked up, but ah, she'd also grabbed for a rod and started with her healing magic. If she'd thought his comment innocent, then perhaps he could let her have that. If not...
Niles winced as he felt the wound forced to heal rapidly, taking a bit of his own energy with it. But the sting was gone, leaving only Sakura's hand.
"Does it feel better?" she questioned, finally looking up at him.
Niles smiled at her, reaching with his other hand to push back a bit of her hair that had fallen into her face.
"I've never felt better, Princess."
"You-- You don't-- Just 'Sakura'."
There was a brief moment of silence as she looked at him, face impressively red, before she quickly put the rod aside and grabbed for a roll of fresh bandages.
Well...
"Sakura," Niles finally said as she began wrapping his arm. "Thank you for your care."
One ache had certainly been replaced by another, but he rather liked it.
"I'm glad I can help," Sakura replied once she'd snipped the end of the bandage and tucked it securely.
"Then if you ever need help, with anything, come to me anytime..."
Her blush was an answer in itself, and she nodded. Anything further might be overplaying his hand, so he got to his feet.
His tent was waiting.
Perhaps he'd leave the flaps untied.
