"Would you mind telling that story again of how Dea and my bestfriend actually ended up engaged?" Sebastien propped himself up on one elbow to face Ariadne as Dea and Jacques visibly stiffened at his rather...LOUD query. He chuckled when both of them threw a glare at him but waved it off when he saw that Ariadne's grin matched his own. The others who had heard him all came running back to the picnic blanket, eager to tease Dea again.
Ariadne sighed dramatically, pretending to fan herself as she cleared her throat. "Oh, Seb, you have NO idea how...excruciating it was for us to watch them both."
"Actually, excruciating isn't just the word to describe it," Diahan cut in, snickering when Dea reddened and gave her a very bad finger gesture.
"It was an ordeal," Eden added, flipping her long black hair over her shoulder. She promptly ignored Dea who was spouting off some very unladylike profanities in the background. Jacques merely winced and shook his head.
"See, Seb, Dea may be smart and all that," Julia continued, "but she really has problems in the romance department."
"--which is where we just HAD to come in and 'rescue' her," Cassie finished, punctuating each word with a nod.
Sebastien looked over to where Jacques was vainly trying to hold back his fiancée by the shoulders as she struggled to get up and throttle all five of them. He turned back to them, laughing. "So what happened?" he asked, prodding for the girls to continue.
"NOTHING HAPPENED!" Dea hollered, flailing about as Jacques grabbed her by the waist when his grip on her shoulders loosened. "Those girls are just out to humiliate me! It's a travesty, I tell you! Don't believe anything they tell you!"
"Judging from the way you're struggling, Dea, I think a lot of things happened," Mac spoke up, joining in on the teasing. The Angels all laughed when Dea's scowl turned black and she yelled 'you damned traitor!' at Mac.
Jacques pinned her down then, locking her arms behind her back as he gave the Angels a very harassed look. "Girls, you better wrap that story up fast, Dea has claws..."
Ariadne smirked. "You wanna know how it went? Well, it's like this..."

By the time Ariadne and the others had finished narrating The Dea Morales and Jacques Montmarte Love Story, Sebastien was laughing so hard that tears were streaming down his face. Even the girls were finding it increasingly difficult to finish the story without cracking up every now and then.
Seb turned to Jacques who was now being pinned down by Dea. "So she was the girl who kicked your ass, eh Montmarte?" Jacques only let out a muffled groan in reply.
"You sure are getting soft," Seb remarked unmercifully, laughing still. "And the fact that you were just as dense in highschool makes you the perfect match for Dea."
This time, both Jacques and Dea looked up. If looks could kill, Seb knew he would be dead on the ground in an instant what with the matching venomous glares the couple was sending his way. He decided, however, that there were some things worth risking your life for and this was definitely something he could save for blackmail.
"Of course," Ariadne continued, wiping her eyes as her chuckles subsided. "Dea also has to be one of the most unique women you can ever hope to meet, Seb. She has no idea about courtship, romance or even physical attraction."
"She's so dense that it's scary," Eden added, waving her hands in the air for emphasis. "I remember a story of hers that one guy tried confessing his feelings to her after nearly a year of treating her to free lunches and taking her home even if he lived forty-eight kilometers away and ~"
"--NEARLY A YEAR???" Sebastien was aghast as he turned to gape at Dea in disbelief. "Oh God if I were a girl, I would get what he was driving at the moment he'd ask!"
Dea looked very cross as she loosened her grip on Jacques who was staring at her just as incredulously. "How the heck was I supposed to know?!" She protested, crossing her arms. "He wasn't saying anything!!!"
The Angels gave her a look that was a cross between mild frustration and amused sympathy. Sebastien shook his head in disbelief as Jacques scrambled up.
"Honey, you had NO IDEA he was interested? After six months???" Jacques blinked at Dea. "Where is he now? I'm feeling very sorry for him all of a sudden."
Dea just crossed her arms, looking very sullen and said nothing. Ariadne sighed and gestured for Eden to continue her story.
"Anyway, the poor fellow pursued Dea for six months before he finally said the very words that almost everyone in school had been telling him to get out of his system." She nodded solemnly as Sebastien sat up slowly, leaning forward.
"Let me guess," the Frenchman continued for her. "He said 'Dea, I'm in love with you' and he asked her out on a date."
Cassie nodded. "Yup. And Dea just stood there for a full minute, not blinking."
Jacques turned to Dea again. "Oh, you suck," he said. Dea punched him in the arm.
Diahan laughed again. "I have to agree with your fiancé on this one, De..."
Ariadne shushed everyone. "To end the story, the guy just stood there and waited for Dea's feeble brain to scramble about and translate everything he had just said and done for her into something only she could understand and this is what she said -- "
She stopped and cleared her throat at Dea, her eyebrows raised. When Dea didn't say anything, Jacques nudged her. "What did you say?" he hissed.
Dea looked up, her ears red. "IsaidIthoughthewasgay."
"What?"
"Don't ask me to repeat it!" Dea wailed. Ariadne threw her a pillow.
Sebastien only shook his head. "Whatever you said to him, I'm sure it was enough to damage his ego. I can only wonder how much he was suffering through all the ~"
"--OKAY OKAY OKAY!!!" Dea cut in, turning bright red. "I said I thought he was GAY!"
"...." Everyone stopped laughing. Sebastien stared. Jacques stared. Mac, who had never heard that story yet, stared.
Dea looked at all of them, aware that her humiliation was complete. "Two years after that, I met up with him and he told me he was dating a food critic named David."
Everyone howled with laughter.
