„Hey, what's wrong,“ Zeke asked when he heard Casey sighing deeply. „Your mom is driving you crazy?“
„No, no, that's okay, she's making the best out of the situation and has started to clear out the attic. Keeps her busy. But I hate the thought that you are at home all alone for two weeks already.“
Zeke smiled. „Miss you, too. Haven't thought that I would ever say this, but it's fun to hang around with you.“
„I know you hate the silence in the house.“
Zeke kept quiet for a moment. „No need to worry about that,“ he finally said. „When it gets too difficult to deal with it, I put on the video you made for your last art project, you know, the one from the baltic sea in Europe. When I close my eyes, I can imagine that the waves carry me away to a different place, to start a new life.“
„Uhm.“ Suddenly Casey's mouth felt dry. „I guess the virus let you say stupid things. But I am the geek; usually, that's my part.“
„The virus only offers me a lot of time to think about my life and about what actually counts. Since I can remember, I refused to think about the future. I played a lot of roles; I was the dealer, the heartbreaker, the rebel. I never had the chance to find out who I am.
Until now. I don't know where all this will go to, but what I know is that when all this is over, nothing will be the same anymore. And I can't wait to discover my new life together with my best friend. With you.
If you don't mind, still hanging around with me when I'm not the cool rebel of Herrington anymore."
