Title: Facing the truth

Characters: Stokely Mitchell, Zeke Tyler, mention of Casey Connor
Rating: PG 13
Words: 535
Prompt: you, sir, are beyond help
„Zeke!“ Stokely rolled her eyes and sighed. „You are beyond help, you know that?“
He refused to look up, not in the mood to discuss his life with her. She wouldn't understand anyway. To be honest, he himself couldn't understand what he had done. Casey had been the best which had ever happened to him.
He had had a shitty childhood, and even if nowadays he used to play the cool rebel who didn't care about anything, deep inside, he had often felt alone. Until Casey stepped into his life. The boy was a geek, a stubborn one, who was not impressed by his try to keep him on distance. Finally Zeke had given in, and the last six months had been the best of his life.
Until yesterday evening Casey had told him that he would leave Ohio after autumn to go to College in Boston. It had felt as if a world broke down. Of course, it had been stupid to think that Casey would spend his life here, in Herrington, where people called him a loser, a fool or worse, and bullied him whenever they could, and no one, not even his parents, had ever tried to back him up.
Casey was smart, he deserved a chance, and Zeke was sure that a great life would wait for him; all his dreams could come true. But it did hurt. So much that he had overreacted, he had picked up an argument, he had yelled at Casey, and finally he had thrown him out of the garage, yelling, that he better didn't come back again.
Later in the night he stranded in a club, drunk too much, and finally had spent the night with a girl. An epic flop. To think that he would get Casey out of his head by fucking a bitch whose name he didn't even know.
When he suddenly felt a hand touching his arm, he jerked around, breathing hard. „God, Stokes, leave me the fuck alone.“
„Fine, if you want to play the lonely wolf again, get a move on and be happy. You are such a shit.
Casey wanted to ask you to come with him, do you know this? He is dreaming about a future together with you. That's what he tried to tell you last night.“
Zeke paled visibly, shaking his head. „We both knew that it is not forever,“ he protested. „We had a good time together, but it's over now. Casey will learn soon that life in Boston is much more exciting than everything we have had.“
„How can you be that blind?“ Stokely pulled her face. „He loves you, you ignorant idiot, though it's beyond me why.
If you care for him, Zeke, and you don't want to lose him, then hurry up and talk with him before it's too late.“
He stared at her with wild sparkling eyes, still hesitating; then he turned around, rushed out of the house, jumped into his GTO. The tires were squealing loud when he put the pedal to the metal. Stokely smirked. „Boys,“ she thought. How was it possible that a smart mind like Zeke could act so stupid sometimes?
