Kain would've been howling, but he needed the breath to hang on to the damned bird careening across the countryside at breakneck speed. And break its damned neck was exactly what he expected the cursed thing to do --

In the gods' names why did I let you talk me into this?!
-- Cecil thundered past in a flurry of sunshine feathers and peals of laughter and Kain swore again, urging the stupid bird to catch up if it could. His mount promptly bounded over a boulder and Kain nearly soared over the thing's head.
