Some thought his lessons could be a hair less brutal.
Akstar didn't think so; staring down at Lasswell, seeing dazed bewilderment in his student's face for the thousandth time, he debated whether the blow wasn't brutal enough.
He pinned the boy -- yes, boy -- with an icy glare.
"Get up, and do it again."
Wordlessly Lasswell picked himself up. His form was less than ideal and Akstar felt bile rise in his throat.
I'll remake you if it kills us both.
I know what's coming if you don't lose that weakness --
His empty eye burned. Akstar ignored the pain and struck.
