Easier to come back to the world -- the human world -- at night, or at least as the sun dipped downwards. Shuten chose not to think on the whys and wherefores of that too much, because it was depressing, if nothing else, and he'd had a bellyful of that for long enough.
I just want a little peace. That's all.
Thus, his arrival. Not in battle nor in the middle of the mad modern city, but the forest verge of a rustically run-down shrine. It was familiar. Comforting, even.
Cleanse oneself. Lift the clapper.
... He wondered if anyone would be listening.
