[June 16] [Fire Emblem Heroes] High Noon

Title: High Noon
Day / Prompt: 16 / Noon Blues
Fandom: Fire Emblem Heroes
Character(s) / Pairing(s): Legault, Matthew
Rating / Warning(s): All Ages
Word Count: 220

Legault. A silhouette against the Sun, one hand concealed inside his cloak, a half-smirk on his face. No one else in the road leading from Castle Askr to the hinterlands.

That is, no one else but Matthew, standing ten paces from Legault, his dagger raised.

"Never thought I'd get a chance to settle accounts with you," the spy admitted, "but this place is a little funny when it comes to granting second chances. Are you ready?"

Legault shook his head. "You just wanna see which one of us is faster." He narrowed his eyes. "But let's be honest. You know it's me. So! Why bother testing it?"

"Because I've still got a lot of anger to work out where the Black Fang's concerned," Matthew said, "and here you are. If you're still standing afterwards, all's forgiven."

At that, Legault laughed. "That's a better deal than we'd get back in Elibe. All right."

A whirl of dust blew across the road. The Sun sat at the highest point in the sky.

"If I count to three," Matthew said, "you won't wait until three, will you?"

"No," Legault admitted, shrugging, "but you won't wait if I do it, either."

"So –" Matthew tilted his head to give his neck a good crack. "How do we – ?"

"Now." And Legault was already in motion.

END.
