[June 10] [Fire Emblem Heroes] Dragon Advice
Title: Dragon Advice
Day / Prompt: 10 / Water On Hot Skin
Fandom: Fire Emblem Heroes
Character(s) / Pairing(s): Kiran (F), Tiki (Adult)
Rating / Warning(s): All Ages
Word Count: 480
"You look like you have a case of the nerves," a female voice said as a very familiar silhouette interrupted the Sun, prompting Kiran to lift the brim of her straw hat and close the tome she had borrowed from Merric before looking up at the person addressing her. Tiki stood there in her red swimsuit, smiling down at the Summoner beatifically.
"Do I not look like a person gone to the beach to enjoy a good book?" Kiran tried to shrink herself down into her beach chair, did not succeed. Tiki seemed amused.
"No, you look like a person who's very uncomfortable." Tiki seated herself on a towel that had been laid out next to the chair, pulling her knees up to her chin. "Are you afraid we're going to be attacked out here? We've already dealt with the Emblian patrols."
"It's not that," Kiran sighed. "It's – well, I mean, just look at you, Tiki."
"Hmm?" Tiki looked down at herself. "Did I drop watermelon seeds down – ?"
Kiran rolled her eyes. "Okay, look, how would you feel if you were surrounded by impossibly beautiful people ... and you were just, y'know, an ordinary person?"
"Ordinary?" Tiki blinked. "You? You don't think that you're a beautiful person?" She smiled. "Just because you don't look like us doesn't mean you aren't beautiful. You're from another world, after all, one that's very different from any of ours." Her long ears perked up. "If anything, I'd say you're beautiful in a very ... exotic way. That's it."
"I'm glad you think so." Kiran sighed again. "You won't catch me wearing anything like that, though." She jerked a thumb at the red swimsuit. "I'm surprised you like it."
"I don't think I'd dress like this in any other season," Tiki mused, "or in a formal setting. It's comfortable, and I'm around people I trust, yourself included. It makes sense."
"You're not the tiniest bit self-conscious about showing all of that skin?" Kiran shivered. "I'd be mortified. Even for this sun dress, I really had to talk myself into it, you know."
Tiki shrugged. "Even if I'd rather swim in the ocean as my normal self, this body handles heat much more efficiently than my dragon form, and, when you consider that I'm naked in that form, this actually feels oddly modest." Again, she smiled. "Besides, in another thousand years, who will care that somebody saw me in a swimsuit?"
Kiran shook her head. "I guess you're right, even if there's no way for me to have the same perspective on time that you have. I probably just ... worry too much, like I'm still on my world and not in this world, where everybody has different expectations."
At that, Tiki brightened. "There, you see? You're starting to figure things out."
Several figures came down the beach, waving, and Kiran muttered, "I wish I had the same confidence in myself that all of you have in me, but there it is, huh?"
END.
