Title: Blossoms
Day / Prompt: 03 / In Full Bloom
Fandom: Fire Emblem Heroes
Character(s) / Pairing(s): Elise, Sakura
Rating / Warning(s): All Ages
Word Count: 315
Hoshido, but not the Hoshido that Sakura recalled. A castle, possibly belonging to one of the great daimyo from the provinces from the days before the wars. Gardens. Rows upon rows of flowers in pinks and purples. Beauty like the old-fashioned paintings.
Elise stood across the clearing from her, separated from her by ten paces, brandishing her staff, her young face set in a look of determination that Sakura remembered.
"You're ... not the Elise I knew, are you? You're under contract to the Emblians." Sakura bowed her head. "Have you and I even met here, or do you only know me by name?"
"You're Princess Sakura of Hoshido," Elise said, "and I know who you are, but no, this is the first time I've seen you." Her expression softened. "Were you and I ... friends?"
"We could have been," Sakura replied, gripping her staff, "but you died trying to stop your brother from killing ... someone else you loved." She adjusted her stance. "I don't want to fight you. It's the last thing I want. But I know you're being compelled."
"Was it Leo?" Elise asked quietly. Sakura shook her head. "Xander?" A nod. "Then ... what he believed about Father turned out to be wrong, didn't it?" Another nod. "Believe it or not, it does me good to hear that. It means, when I go back, that this won't have to go on forever. It means that there's an end to all the fighting, somewhere, some time." A wind stirred all of the flowers. "But first, it's down to the two of us, isn't it?"
Sakura mustered up her magic. "I'm sure the others are fighting nearby, but, here in this garden, it's just you and me." A deep breath. "Are you ready, Princess Elise?"
Elise had a sad look on her face. "Yes. Break the contract, and ... we'll talk, I promise."
