He didn't have to; he could feel the blood-boiling warmth radiating in waves beneath his hands as he -- slowly, despite the urgency -- fought the fire in the Scorpion's blood down with winter's chilling caress.
Soaked with sweat, Kardia's hair looked nearly black, stark contrast to blue eyes glassy with fever and the warning flush to oddly waxen skin. Strangely silent, he watched the snowy aura lick his flesh.
And Degel knew how very close Kardia had come this time.
