Title: You make me happy
Fandom: The Faculty
Characters: Casey Connor, Zeke Tyler
Rating: PG13
Words: 505
Casey was sure that it was not a good idea to go to the Fifth Year Reunion of Herrington High. Highschool hadn't always been fun for him; he had to endure a lot of bullying and teasing by the jocks of the 'Hornets' because he loved his camera more than football; he was the geek, the outsider, no one cared much about. But at the end, he could have called himself lucky that no one ever found out his deepest secret, that he was gay and had a heavy crush for Zeke Tyler, the king at school. Though Zeke was not interested much in football, too. He loved parties, girls and his GTO; he was a rebel who refused to follow any rules, but everyone respected him. It would have been Casey's ultimate undoing if someone would have ever found out the truth.
When he finally had left Herrington behind to go to College in Chicago, he had been sure that moving on was the best decision; it was about time to stop dreaming and to grow up. What happened about six months later had first been a shock. He met Zeke Tyler again on the campus. And also Zeke seemed to have changed; he still loved his GTO but instead of partying almost every day he studied physics now, and instead of flirting with every girl he asked Casey for a date one day. It had taken some time until he had been ready to believe this was not just one of his old, hopeless dreams.
Three years now they were together and the life in Chicago was just perfect. They didn't need to hide their feelings, could even share an apartment, had some close friends and a lot of fun. Casey was not willing to risk all that with going back to Herrington because of a stupid reunion with people who had never cared about him.
„Our old life is history, Zeke, isn't it this what you always say? Give me one good reason why we should go back to this hellhole.“
Zeke paused thoughtfully, then he grabbed for Casey's hand.
„Back then, Casey, I was much too afraid to admit what I feel for you; I've preferred to put on a perfect show of the rebel who cares about no one and nothing.
When there is anything in my life I regret, it's that I was such a coward. I should have back you up, I should have told them to leave you alone. Your hand in my hand, Casey, I should have stood by you and my feelings.
I was not ready for it back then. But I am now.“
Casey kept quiet for a long while; when he answered tears were sparkling in his eyes.
„Zeke, it's okay, let it rest. You don't need to prove anything. It's not of importance what you did or not did back then. It's only important who you are now. The guy who loves me. Who makes me happy.“
