[August 30] [Durarara!!] Can a Puppet Cut It's Strings?

Title: Can a Puppet Cut It's Strings?
Day/Theme: August 30; I miss you and I yearn after you
Series:Durarara
Character/Pairing: Masaomi Kida/Saki Mikajima, Izaya Orihara and
Rating: G

Saki stared at the clock on the wall, another hour until she could hit the call button and get another pain pill. It was true her legs ached from therapy but more than that pain pills tended to make Saki sleepy and she didn’t want to think right now, she just wanted oblivion. Izaya had just been to see her. Saki looked up to Izaya, did everything he told her but there were times when she didn’t even like him. She willingly let Izaya use her as his puppet because it was better than being alone, but she had been around Izaya long enough to know that he didn’t do things for her best interest. Izaya did what he wanted to and didn’t care about anyone else.

Today, Izaya had been all gloating words talking about Masaomi: how Masaomi was refusing to have anything to do with the yellow scarves, how his old friend had come to town, how Masaomi went to Ikebukuro Westgate Park to pick up college chicks he didn’t have a hope with and how he still couldn’t face her. Izaya had told her over and over Masaomi was hers forever now- he’d never be free of his guilt. The other girls didn’t mean anything because he couldn’t escape her. She’d have him wrapped around her little finger.

She’d seen Masaomi before lurking around at the end of street looking forlornly at her window. That was the most she’d seen him since the incident though. Ironic he was supposed to be hers forever but couldn’t even face her. She missed him. She missed Masaomi but more importantly she missed her Masaomi with his carefree smile (even though sometimes it was a mask)and how he told the worst jokes which everyone called him on but didn’t let that stop him. This was the person she wanted back. She didn’t want to control Masaomi and she didn’t want someone who was with her only out of guilt. She wanted to be his real girlfriend not just some specter he couldn’t escape.

And the truth was she didn’t blame him, not really. Okay it was lousy that he’d abandoned her but she wasn’t exactly blameless either. She’d only gone with him in the beginning because Izaya told her to. She was just his puppet, a way for the information broker to get his hooks into the leader of the yellow scarves. But she’d fallen for Masasomi for real. A part of her wonders if Izaya knew that would happen, if he knew she and Masaomi were compatible, or even if she just took Izaya’s instructions too far. But even if that was the case, who cared? She knew her feelings for Masaomi were genuine. So real in fact that there were days she considered telling Masaomi everything when he finally came to see her. She’d tell him all of her dirty little secrets, screw what Izaya wanted. But then she’d quickly back down from those thoughts. Where would she be without Izaya? He was one of only two people who bothered visiting her more than once in all the time she’d been in the hospital and the other person only came out of pity. What if both Izaya and Masaomi rejected her? Saki had been at her lowest when Izaya found her and she never wanted to go back. At last the hour ticked to the next and Saki hit the nurse call button so could have her oblivion. Masaomi wasn’t coming so she didn’t have to decide today.

AN: Been awhile since I've written anything. Still trying to get back into the swing of it.
