[October 29th] [Original] Music stopped
Title: Music stopped
Day/Theme: October 29: Evensong
Series: Original (Diana and Belle #29)
Character/Pairing: Belle/Diana
Rating: PG-13
Author's Note: In the lab
Author's Second Note: Lyrics from Orange Range: *~Asterisk~
“Miageta Yozora no Hoshi-tachi no hikari…” Belle could hear from the lab. She still thought having a CD player in a magic workspace was asking for it to rise up and kill someone in cold blood. She fully expected to walk in one day and find Diana sprawled on the floor with her torso transmuted into a metallic mass of batteries, lasers and springs, bleeding blood and acid. She shook her head to dispel the thought. Didn’t want to bring trouble by thinking about it.
She felt so cynical today for some reason, something she couldn’t name. She hated to be out of control of her emotions, and this restlessness was needling her no end. She couldn’t focus on her reading, and didn’t have the energy to try much else. And it was already evening, a whole day wasted. She was considering whether or not it would help to throw something when she heard a scream.
Her book did get thrown, tossed aside in her rush to reach the lab. She made it through the wards in record time, and just as the she threw open the door, a tiny part of her mind realized the music had stopped.
The sight that greeted her caused her to freeze. Diana was standing over her notes, and looked perfectly fine. Belle just stared at her, heart still racing. Diana turned to look at her in surprise.
“Oh, hi. What’s up?” she said, looking puzzled.
“Didn’t you scream?” Belle asked, looking her up and down to see if she was all right. There was no obvious damage.
“Oh, yeah. Sorry. I spilled some gold on my CD, and it was ruined for a minute,” she apologetically. “I just fixed it.”
“Oh…” Belle said, and for some reason her legs gave out. She landed on the floor rather stunned. Diana rushed over to her.
“Are you ok?” she asked, very concerned. She was even more worried when she lifted up Belle’s head and found her crying. Belle never cried…
“Oh, darling, what’s wrong?”
“I was thinking… I thought bad things, thought I’d lost you. Thought I made you lost…” Belle choked out, sobbing.
“It’s ok, I’m here, I’m fine. I won’t leave you.” Diana held her for a long time before the sobs stopped.
