[17-Apr-2017] [Noir] Burning Abridgeds
Title: Burning Abridgeds
Prompt: 17-Apr-2017 "the old house was like a shell"
Based on: Noir
Characters: Mireille, Kirika, Elvis Presley mentioned
Type: Humor; 100 words
Warnings: Random out-of-context silliness.
Notes: This is an out-take from episode 19 ("Two Hands of the Soldats").
Mireille leaned against a remaining wall of the destroyed Edlinger family library, pondering the loss of the Langonel Manuscript and wondering what to do next.
Kirika walked up to her and held out an undamaged hardcover book. "I found this," she said.
Mireille did a double-take. "A Reader's Digest condensed book!?" she cried. "Of all the books to survive the fire AND two years of exposure, it would have to be one of THOSE."
"Is it valuable?" Kirika asked.
"It is as valuable as a eight-track cartridge," Mireille said dryly, "or perhaps a painting of Elvis Presley on black velvet."
