The SOS Brigade was meeting for the last time in December. "Here's hoping for an exciting New Year," Haruhi said in closing. "May we live in interesting times."
"You know that saying is rumored to be a Chinese curse, right?" Kyon asked.
"Sure," Haruhi said casually.
"Are you CURSING us on PURPOSE!?" Mikuru asked tearfully.
"It's not like that!" Haruhi said impatiently. "Haven't you realized that the only true curse is BOREDOM? Compared to boredom, no real 'curse' is really bad!"
"Except for curses that directly cause suffering, illness, and DEATH," Itsuki added cheerfully.
"Thank you, Mr. Creepy," Haruhi growled.
