Author's Note: In a garden park in New England
“I love Spring!” Diana said, spinning around in her bright pastel print dress.
“Spring makes you very hyper,” Belle said. She was not reading, which was highly unusual. Instead she was walking through the garden enjoying the roses.
“Be careful with those,” Diana cautioned, in between cartwheels.
“Why?” Belle asked, leaning down to breathe in the scent of the one of the yellow and peach blossoms.
“Your namesake had trouble with those,” Diana answered, stretching.
“But I don’t have to worry. My heart has already been captured by a ravishing beast,” Belle teased. It was very gratifying for her to hear Diana choke and fall in the middle of a cartwheel in response.
“Hey!” she sputtered. “If you are going to call me that, you better get ready to run,” Diana warned, advancing menacingly. Belle laughed and ran.
“Prepare to be ravished!” Diana shouted.
“You have to catch me first!” And so they had a merry chase around the garden.
