Ban scratched his head, then regretted doing so with his right hand. Through the headache, he asked, "The what?"
Shido shrugged. "It gave us an excuse to knock on doors . . ."
"With you, it was usually knock down doors," Kazuki put in.
". . . and ask for contributions," Shido finished.
"Shake them down for cash," Kazuki translated.
"And this visit to me?" Ban queried.
Shido smirked. "Makubex says we need a Virgin Mother."
"Hevn recommended you," Kazuki added.
Ban thought about it. "Okay."
