Kyon found Itsuki, Mikuru and Yuki putting on safety harnesses attached to heavy ropes. "NOW what?" Kyon asked.
"Put this on." Itsuki handed a harness to Kyon. "Haruhi has created a 'closed space' separated from our world by an interdimensional gap. We must be prepared to jump from here to there."
Kyon examined his safety rope. "Wait a minute— is this a bungee cord!?"
"If we plummet headlong into an infinite void," Itsuki said cheerfully, "at least we'll have fun doing it."
"This is utterly TERRIFYING, right!?" Kyon asked Mikuru. "It's not just ME, right!?"
"Mmm-hmm," an ashen-faced Mikuru squeaked.
