When Hakkai took off his limiters, he could see that the vines were growing across his body, looping around him like shackles.
So he left. He took Jiipu with him -- the dragon was his, after all, and it would be safe with him. He left the other three to find their own way, and he was sorry, he regretted it, but what he was doing now was the best thing for all of them.
The blood ebbed from his dreams to leave the greens of peace and solitude and selfishness. He lived quietly, shadows untouched by the sun's clarity.
