[Dec. 20] [Suikoden III] Inside Job
Title: Inside Job
Day/Theme: Dec. 20, 2014 "that stained-glass expression on your face"
Series: Suikoden III
Character/Pairing: Dios & Sasarai
Rating: G
The bishop was calm, he was kind, he was well-educated, he was a good conversationalist. Sometimes he was merciless, other times serene. All of the bishops seemed like that though seen from a distance. There were characteristics that stood out in particular about one or another- Leipzig had hobbies, Sakurazaki moved his military duties above all else, Kaeyani raised up proteges- but all of them were intended to stand above and beyond the common man. That was part of what had gotten them out of the lower ranks of the clergy and into their special seats.
Sometimes Sasarai seemed to do nothing but fulfill that part perfectly. He handled emissaries in a diplomatic fashion, he commanded his troops in a workmanly way, and he dealt out all the proper prayers and blessings in their set times and seasons. He could be as proper a bishop as anyone could ask for. His Holiness was probably pleased as could be about Sasarai's appointment all the way through.
The thing was…(Dios had grown close enough to his bishop to become privy to this fact, true about all of them, but unable to really sink in as truth until now)…he wasn't just a bishop, a politician, a general, a figurehead, and certainly not some painted saint on a wall- he was a person.
Dios served the bishop. He liked the person better.
