[Dec. 15] [Suikoden V] Feitas Festival

Title: Feitas Festival
Day/Theme: Dec. 15, 2014 "boats light up the river in a string of flame"
Series: Suikoden V
Character/Pairing: the prince (Falim, as I named him)/Lyon
Rating: G

The current commander of the Queen's Knights probably had closer ties to Raftfleet than any such commander before him, influenced by the major part former admiral Raja and the loose association of fisherfolk and other dwellers on the river that fell under her sway as part of the drifting colony had played as his allies in the Godwin Revolt. Lyon, his wife and knight alongside him, shared those bonds, and, as such, they were frequently invited to various holiday festivities at the moving city. However, his sister, Queen Lymsleia, was quite attached to her brother and loathe to give him up at times like New Year's or the summer solstice and certainly not the popular queen's birthday holiday. Prince Falim was beginning to despair of being able to ever accept such an invitation until a missive arrived at the palace for him from Kisara at the height of the summer's heat (even for the usually humid Falena with its many rivers, this was proving a particularly stifling summer).

"What's the letter about?" Lyon asked. It must have been personal correspondence, not anything official in light of where it had been sorted to (the girl who handled incoming mail these days had been recommended by Toma- she was very efficient).

"There's a tradition in Raftfleet I didn't know about. They have a River Festival."

Lyon wrinkled her nose. "I think I've heard of it vaguely?"

"We're invited, if we'd like."

"A holiday in Raftfleet?" the meaning of this dawned on her, "With no conflict of interests? I'd love to go if you would, Falim."

"I'll ask for the time off," he replied.

Lun was back home for the holiday as well, bringing some of her young Dragon Knight colleagues along with her. The two boys had eyes as wide as saucers as they took in the the boats all laced with lights and lanterns, doubled by their reflections in water, red and orange and yellow. Falim didn't think his expression was that slack-jawed- was it? Still, he was awed by the beauty of the sight.

"Like the river's all aflame," Lyon leaned her head on Falim's shoulder. "It's beautiful."

And between that and the food and the music and the dancing… Falim held her a little closer. "We should try and come every year."
