[Dec. 6] [Fullmetal Alchemist] Polished
Title: Polished
Day/Theme: Dec. 6, 2014 "You didn't have to smile at me"
Series: Fullmetal Alchemist
Character/Pairing: Solf J. Kimblee/Winry Rockbell
Rating: PG
Winry wasn't sure what she had expected when she'd been told that an agent of the Führer would be waiting to meet her at the North City train station to escort her up to Fort Briggs to meet up with Ed and Al, but Solf J. Kimblee was not it. Someone more like Major Miles, maybe? Or the two other large military men silently flanking the Red Lotus Alchemist.
Winry wasn't usually particularly interested in older men, but there was something appealing about Mr. Kimblee. Although she assumed he must be a State Alchemist, seeing as he was in the employ of the Führer, he didn't wear a uniform or exhibit the same sort of soldierly bearing possessed by the other State Alchemists aside from Ed that she was acquainted with. Rather than a officer, he was just a gentleman. Ed…well, if Ed were always this polished a conversationalist, he just wouldn't be the Ed that she loved, but… It was appealing to interact with a man like this. He listened intently to the things she said. His responses suggested not only his general intelligence, but his respect for her capabilities in her chosen field.
And then there was his smile. He would've been notable enough without it, but when he smiled it sent a shiver through her body, a small thrill of attraction that she wasn't sure she would ever want to admit to anyone but present nonetheless.
Mr. Kimblee leaned in carefully enough not to push the bounds of propriety with regard to strangers and personal space, but Winry caught a whiff of coffee and a hint of hospital-ish cleaner beneath it. Underneath that gleaming porcelain exterior, she caught a glimpse of a rogue in those eyes. The renegade genius. A type that snared her attention all the more.
She wouldn't rush into anything stupid. But she would be more than happy to keep on conversing...
