[May 14] [THG] Grudge

Title: Grudge
Day/Theme: May 14, 2014 "ilunga (forgive the first time, tolerate the second, never a third)"
Series: Hunger Games trilogy (leaning heavily on my other writings in this fandom)
Character/Pairing: OC victors, mainly from Nine and Four, Mags
Rating: PG

"District Four!" Luna Vetiver pronounced with absolute frustration. "Always District Four!"

Song Wen's face onscreen broadcast her feelings clearly: It's over; I won; I'm so relieved.

Holland delicately put his headset down on his station. "But I killed both the Fours, remember? I killed them both and it turned out the girl knew my name because she said it then..."

Luna ignored her mentoring partner. "You'll get yours, Four," she stood up and pointed at Odysseus, leaning back in his chair with a huge smile spread across his face- pride and relief and success all at once.

Mags, beside her own partner, frowned. It seemed that no matter how many years went by she was never going to be on Luna's right side. Every new victor from Four added fuel to the fire whether they had engaged with the tributes from Nine or not (and any Four tribute who killed one from Nine was a mark against them in Luna's eyes whether that Four progressed far in the Games or not).

"Whatever, Granny," Odysseus blew her off. He got up and went to shake hands with Holland, who hugged him instead, sparking a wave of small laughs around the room as Odysseus stood tall and stiff in Holland's grip, not nearly as touchy-feely, patting Holland tentatively on the back.

"I should've come with Honey," Luna sat back down and stared at her rough, weathered hands.

"Nah," Jack Johnson suggested over his lunch, "You should've sent Ombry. It should've been Holland and Ombry. Ombry's the one who can spin some sentiment." Of course, Nine wasn't One. He didn't know how they configured their mentoring situation in Nine (he didn't know how any of the outlier districts figured out who would mentor when aside from the constraints of there not always be enough options for any choosing to occur in the first place).

Woof, on the other hand, tuned into Mags and her response to the events, "Congratulations there, Ms. Grand-Mentor. About Song. ...But don't you let Luna get to you. It's not your fault she takes it that way."

"Hmm," she sighed, "Woof, it's just I do..."

Odysseus, finished interacting with Holland for the moment, butted in to drag his own mentor along with him to help walk him through the steps of what to do now- where to go to wait for and meet with his new victor. Mags didn't feel any better about things between she and Luna.
