[03 May 2014] [Earthbound] Luftmensch
Title: Luftmensch
Day/Theme: 03-May: Luftmensch
Series: Earthbound/Mother 2
Character/Pairing: Ness, Apple Kid, Apple Kid's Assistant
Rating: G
Apple Kid practically grabbed the bag of fast food out of Ness's hand. His mouse assistant prodded him. "Thank you," he mumbled through a mouthful of hamburger.
In other words, it was a normal meeting with Apple Kid.
Ness waited for the inventor to finish the bag. It was a lot of food, but Apple Kid was a fast eater. "How's the inventing?" he asked once he was done.
"I've been collaborating with Doctor Andonuts -- thank your friend with the glasses for introducing us, by the way. He had some ideas about expanding the Pencil Eraser. He even invited me to Winter. By the way, could you give me a lift? Or money for a bus ticket?"
Ness considered. "Have you tried selling some of your inventions?" Apple Kid had a gift for inventing just the right solution to Ness's current problem. The problem was, while zombie paper was an incredibly useful invention when you had a town infested with zombies, it wasn't exactly something people needed every day. "... Like the trout-flavored yoghurt?" Ness said, naming the only thing that was remotely sellable.
Apple Kid shrugs. "I don't know anything about selling yoghurt. I tried asking people if they wanted free samples, but it didn't go so well. Then I ran out of milk and trout."
Ness looked to the mouse. "(He probably shouldn't have made that much yoghurt. We ate it for weeks.)"
"Well, it was all I had in the house, and I didn't have any money to buy food. But it really was the best trout-flavored yoghurt I've ever had."
Ness would say it was probably the only trout-flavored yoghurt Apple Kid had ever had, except it was apparently a Fourside trend. "Well, let me know if you make any progress on erasing other things," he said. "And I suppose we can detour to Winters again before we head down to Scarabia."
"Great! Do you think Doctor Andonuts has a washing machine? I'm kind of out of clean clothing."
No, Ness wasn't surprised at all.
