[Jan. 4] [Boardwalk Empire] On the Way Up
Title: On the Way Up
Day/Theme: Jan. 4, 2014 "your face lights up when someone says, "It might be dangerous.""
Series: Boardwalk Empire
Character/Pairing: Meyer & Charlie
Rating: PG
They've been discussing it for a while: "If they have a monopoly on liquor- on gambling, on whores, on whatever- well, they can't be the ones controlling everything. There's bound to be something we can take and make our own."
There's not really much "my idea" or "his idea" to it. It's just something they talk about, their own shared project between the things that other people hold them to.
So one day it just is. Maybe it's one of their trips out to eat in Chinatown that spurs it, maybe it's something that someone else said, but they've got this idea now. It's heroin- better, stronger, more convenient than opium- straight from China to the two of them and then spread (sold) however they want it to be.
"We're sneaking up from behind the bosses," Charlie says, "We'll take over this town from behind."
"There's no one else I'd rather do it with," Meyer grins.
Then Benny busts in saying all kinds of crazy things, stirring up trouble as usual, and the two of them have to think out what they're going to do about it.
Neither would have it any other way.
